Demonstration Farm
Faculty organizes effective demonstrations on different irrigated crops with flow as well as pressurized irrigation systems for the benefit of visiting farmers and trainee officers. This faculty has 6 Ha. area for arranging demonstrations on improved crop and water management practices on crops such as Wheat, Gram, Sorghum, pigeanpea, pearlmillet, Soybean, Groundnut, Sugarcane, Banana, Cotton etc. This faculty has contributed to improve environment of campus by planting of various tree species on field boundaries.
Soil Science Laboratory
Soil Science laboratory is primarily established for practical / demonstrations of soil and water analytical parameters, in view of irrigation, drainage and crop production to the trainee participants in various training courses organized at WALMI. However, this facility is also made open to the farmers for testing their soil and water samples on nominal charges.
Crop Science Laboratory
This laboratory displays photo laminations of different irrigated crops grown with different irrigation and crop production practices at WALMI Demonstration Farms. This laboratory has also number of charts, posters & plant samples depicting different irrigated crops and plant samples projecting rooting depths of different irrigated crops actually studied by the Institute.
Agrometrological Laboratory
Agrometroloical Laboratory was established on WALMI Demonstration Farm during the year 1983 for the record of daily weather data with respect to weather parameters such as maximum & minimum air temperature, maximum & minimum relative humidity, bright sunshine hours, wind speed at 2 meter height, rainfall and evaporation. These weather data are utilised for processing crop water requirement and irrigation scheduling of the crops grown on WALMI Demonstration Farm. This laboratory also serves the Demonstration Lab. of measuring weather parameters to the participants of training course on “Crop Water Requirement”. Recently the weather data recorded at this laboratory is also supplied to the users on nominal charges.
